Welcome to The Anarchist Yacht Club (AYC) website. The focus of the AYC is to promote friendly competition on a global level amongst its members, as well as other similar associations, clubs and groups. Newcomers are always welcome.
History and Concept of the AYC:
The AYC was established on the 4th of July, 2007. At that time there were a multitude of VSK clubs, but almost all of them were organised along national lines - their memberships were largely people from one area. This was mainly due to language boundaries and the fact that most virtual skippers do most of their sailing in their evenings, so clubs formed to bring people in the same time zones together for more organised racing than the often chaotic experiences one finds in public racing.
The AYC set out right from the beginning to be different. It aimed to bridge the gaps between the virtual skipper communities in Europe, Asia, Oceania and the Americas, and provide a club with a racing calendar that brought people of different nationalities together. The strength of the AYC has been the friendships that have been formed that span the globe. It's a multi-cultural, multi-lingual gathering of friends with a strong emphasis on having FUN.
How do you join?:
It's easy. Register by clicking on the "Register Now" link at the bottom of this page. Fill in your details and submit your application. That's all there is to it. It's quick, easy, and free.
Why join?:
Why not? You can be a member of the AYC and remain a member of any other clubs you already belong to as well. There is no obligation to participate in club racing if you do not want to, but if you do decide to join in the racing, you'll be most welcome.
As a member you'll get full access to the club forums. At the top of this page you will see a "FORUM" tab. If you click on that as a non-member you will see some of the club's forum sections, which are available to members and non-members alike. Once you become a member you'll also have access to the members only sections of the forums, including a repository of resources, skins, courses, documents and pictures.
It's a great place to learn more about the game. The AYC culture is very supportive of sharing knowledge and ideas. AYC virtual skippers, veterans and newbies alike, will be happy to offer information of a technical nature, as well as tips and tactics that will bring the novice skipper up to speed in no time.
The AYC regularly hosts non-passworded "public" races, but much of our racing is done in password protected races so that only club members can join. If you sign up as a member you will get access to the club password, and then be able to join any AYC server at any time.
You'll meet a lot of new friends from all over the world, and with them you'll have a lot of fun, and a lot of laughs.
AYC holds club regattas in fleet racing, match racing and teams racing. As a member you'll be welcome to participate in any and all of these that take your fancy.
Register now, and peruse the forums, check out upcoming regattas, get the low down on tech tips and IASF rules and interpretations, and by all means introduce yourself!
